MAYOR ANTONIO R. VILLARAIGOSA RAISES OVER $1.6 MILLION FOR RE-ELECTION

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's campaign announced today that more than 1,900 contributors gave more than $1.6 million to the Mayor between the months of March and June. 

Villaraigosa strategist Ace Smith said:

"This unprecedented show of support over such a short period of time shows that Angelenos are coming together behind Antonio Villaraigosa because he is willing take on the tough issues and set big goals like reforming our schools, making LA a green city, transforming our transportation system and putting more cops on the streets.  In three years time Antonio Villaraigosa has laid the foundation for real change and people from every neighborhood in the city are responding."

The $1.6 million raised is nearly 2.5 times the amount the Mayor raised during the same reporting period in 2005.
